GAP Hire Solutions has added to its extensive fleet of site dumpers with the recent purchase of 13 1.5 tonne swivel skip dumpers from Wacker Neuson.

GAP’s Head of Procurement Ken Stewart explained: “We had identified a ‘gap’ in our fleet holding of this particular dumper size and type which coincided with a request from a key customer for the equipment. We initially purchased one dumper for evaluation and both the customer and ourselves were impressed with the swivel skip which allows for 180-degree tipping; ideal for limited and confined spaces, and the hydrostatic Twin-Lock all-wheel drive system”.

The innovative drive system ensures that when the dumper is operational on uneven surfaces, it is not possible for one wheel to loses traction and rotate freely as each of the four wheels has its own hydraulic motor meaning power is always optimally distributed.

Ken Stewart continued: “The dumper also offered good service access for easy maintenance which is a key consideration for our national network of depot workshops. Following evaluation, we purchased an additional 12 dumpers which are now out on long term hires.”

GAP is renowned for providing the best and most innovative products available for hire in the industry, investing around 50% of their turnover into new products annually. Founded in 1969, the company is the UK’s largest independent equipment hirer; employing over 1,700 people across the UK.

Ken Stewart added: “We have an excellent relationship with Wacker Neuson and they were able to supply the equipment at relatively short notice from their production facility in Austria”.

In addition to a range of cabbed dumpers, Wacker Neuson is GAP’s main supplier for compaction equipment including plates and rammers, breakers, floor saws and trench rollers.
