UK Plant Operator of the Year is the largest independent and fast-growing plant operator event in the UK.
With a record purse offering £20,000, the event attracts enormous interest from plant operators from across the country…With the best 60 competing on finals day.
Finals day this year is on Saturday Sept 6th at the CITB, National Construction College in Bircham Newton.
Supported by the CITB & endorsed by the CPA, the 2025 event features 12 x bespoke challenges sponsored by a host of global brands, leading UK hirers and distributors.
Finals day of UK Plant Operators is literally a festival of construction.
With the event held on a Saturday the tradition is that the finalists’ families attend, creating a unique atmosphere.
UKPOOTY 25 gives visitors a rare opportunity to get up close to the challenges, safely positioned behind concrete blocks visitors of all ages, can see first-hand the true skill and dexterity of the finalists as they and the machines are put to the test.

New Experiences:
Finals day offers two first time experiences designed to inspire the next generation of plant operators and operatives to consider a career in construction.
The Simulator Room.
This ever-popular space offers visitors the rare opportunity to sit on a simulator and in a safe environment, under instruction, take control of a range of excavators, dump trucks and telehandlers. Safe in the knowledge that you can learn, have fun and cause no potential harm.
Hook a Duck.
Under instruction, our younger guests are invited to sit on, what for many will be their first excavator. A 1-ton mini ex to be precise, but not just to sit on it, to operate it and not just operate it but to carry out a mini challenge, by using the dipper arm with a fitted hook to capture a rather oversized duck in the 2025 UKPOOTY Hook a Duck competition.
At the UKPOOTY Jobs Fair.
New for 2025 will be a CITB & UK Plant Operators job fair, sponsors and exhibitors will be advertising and sharing their latest roles. Visit with the hirer or contractor of your choosing to see the very latest opportunities for full time, fully qualified roles or find out how to enrol to join their apprenticeship or training schemes.
Finally, and most importantly, UK Plant Operator of the year is free to visit, free to park and free to enter the competition. The event is fully catered and offers good value for money fare for all the family. The facilities are plentiful and the team are all industry folk who will try their best to ensure everyone has the best experience they can.
We love to see as many people as attend and stay for the grand finale and presentation where £20,000 is shared and the highly original Welsh slate trophies are presented.
