Ridgway Rentals is a third-generation family-owned plant hire business who have been offering their products nationwide for over 50 years. They have maintained their success as a leader in their market by regularly updating their fleet with machines that meet the demands of their customers, whilst also providing them with the latest technology, safety features and fuel-saving benefits.

Earlier this year the company placed an order of 130 Komatsu machines worth £12 million to update their fleet. This includes a mixture of excavators, bulldozers and wheel loaders ranging from 2.5 to 36 tonnes. “Our focus on this latest investment has been on updating our fleet with highly efficient, environmentally friendly equipment. Our customers demand the very best tools for the job, and we believe Komatsu delivers on this!” says Stuart Jones, MD

Already a leader in providing civil engineering and construction companies with plant hire, Ridgway Rentals is now becoming the first choice for equipment hire in several other industries. This recent order includes a number of specialist machines including wheel loaders built to meet the specific requirements of waste & recycling sites. The majority of these wheel loaders are being supplied on long term contract hire, so it was essential that Ridgway Rentals bought machines that matched the customers exact requirements. Fortunately, all of Komatsu’s wheel loaders come with a bundle of safety features as standard – vital for this industry with so many strict health & safety obligations to adhere to. Extra specifications include being fitted with solid tyres, high tip buckets and fire suppression equipment.

Ridgway Rentals has already made an impact within this industry by providing a customer with Komatsu PC210LCD-11 crawler excavators fitted with elevating cabs last year. These machines were supplied on a long term contract hire, a service that Ridgway has become renowned for.

The recent order has also included 6 crawler excavators fitted with super long fronts to meet the growing demand for these machines in many sectors including quarrying, waterways and railways. They have also seen demand from environmental agencies who are continuously working on upgrading coastal defences, flood defences and in many more complex and sensitive environments which require this type of specialist equipment.

Ridgway Rentals have purchased the PC360LC-11 and PC138US-11 excavators with super long fronts (SLF). The PC138US-11 SLF has a reach of 12 metres whilst also being able to work in confined spaces due to its short tail swing, whilst the PC360LC-11 SLF is more suited for heavy duty jobs and has a reach of 22 metres.

Komatsu intelligent machine control (IMC) machines are also featured in Ridgway Rentals latest investment. Back in 2017, they were the first plant hire company in the UK to purchase Komatsu’s intelligent excavators and bulldozers and since then they have seen the demand for them grow. This order includes a number of D61PXi-24 and D65PXi-18 bulldozers. The innovative machine control system allows automated operation from heavy dozing to fine grading, thus maximising on site productivity and efficiency.

The larger machines in the package come with KomatsuCARE, a complimentary maintenance package from Marubeni-Komatsu which covers factory scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years/200 hours. This reduces machine downtime and improves reliability and longevity to suit the expected life cycle.
