Myers Group and Johnsons of Wellfield Invest in First Hitachi Excavators

Myers Group and Johnsons of Wellfield have welcomed two new Hitachi excavators to their quarry operation, marking the start of a new partnership with Hitachi Construction Machinery UK.
The delivery of a Hitachi ZX530LCH-7 and ZX210LC-7 represents a significant investment for the business, which has been operating from the Johnsons of Wellfield quarry for more than 50 years.
A well-established name within the industry, Myers Group specialises in dimensional stone extraction, primary and recycled aggregates, and landfill operations. While the company has successfully operated mixed equipment fleets throughout its history, this is the first time Hitachi machines have been introduced to the site.
The decision to invest in Hitachi equipment was led by a focus on reliability, durability, fuel efficiency and strong aftersales support, according to Senior Operations Manager, Ben Strickland.
Since arriving on site, the company says the new excavators have quickly made a positive impact on operations.
“We have mainly noticed a significant reduction in fuel burn,” said Ben.
“Driver ergonomics have been fantastic from the feedback from the gang on the machines, and the speed and manoeuvrability have definitely improved compared to our previous excavators.”
The investment underscores Myers Group and Johnsons of Wellfield’s commitment to enhancing productivity while creating a comfortable and efficient working environment for operators.
Hitachi Construction Machinery UK says it is proud to support Myers Group and Johnsons of Wellfield as they begin their Hitachi journey. With the manufacturer looking forward to developing a strong and lasting partnership in the years ahead.
