As the environmental impact of construction comes under closer scrutiny, Statom Group has invested £4m in a 48-machine deal with Kobelco machinery from distributor Molson Equipment.

A specialist independent construction business, Statom Group has experience of delivering Civil Engineering, Demolition, Remediation, Groundworks and RC frame projects across the UK

Mark Albon, Plant Director for Statom Group, said, “Particularly on larger projects, clients are focusing closely on their environmental impact. To meet these needs, as well as our own sustainability goals, we don’t just take steps to protect nature and prevent pollution on-site, we work with partners like Molson Equipment that have the equipment and aftersales expertise to support both our sustainability and operational goals.”

Billy Lee, Sales Manager for Molson Equipment, added, “Statom’s reputation and high quality standards mean they’ve continued to grow and serve the most demanding clients, even in difficult market conditions. Our mutual values of sustainability and quality service have set the foundation for our long-term relationship.

“These shared values, as well as Molson Equipment’s leading service offering, made Kobelco excavators the natural choice. Alongside Strickland Manufacturing, who are providing all the excavator buckets, it’s great to be supporting a trusted contractor to lead the industry, operate efficiently and meet the needs of its customers.”

With some of Kobelco’s models now offering up to a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared to previous models, with no drop in power output, adding them to the fleet seems a sensible solution for Statom as they reduce operating costs and achieve its carbon emissions goals.

The machines include mini excavators, conventional and compact radius models. Whilst SK30SR-6E and SK50SRX-7 mini excavators will provide tough, full-size performance on compact sites. The SR Series models, including the SK85MSR-7 and SK140SRLC-7, combine power, speed and design to ensure optimal, uncompromised operations, with the SK210LC-11E also supplied to deliver on the heaviest tasks.
