Thwaites recently announced its most significant factory investment in the company’s 88-year history.

Completed on time to a budget the 4,000 sqm build, is now a fully functional facility housing as it does the Thwaites production and parts warehouse teams.

The move will see a reduction in movement between the two supporting functions, further improving manufacturing efficiency and productivity to drive output and growth.

With an established dedicated stock of genuine Thwaites parts, each part has been given a unique QR code. Enabling the team of experienced parts pickers, sited at their dedicated stations and armed with access to supporting data, to be able to pick and pack more accurately, consistently and quickly. Delivering an impressive first pick rate of 96%.

Further investment has seen new ‘sized to fit’ stock bins installed, reducing wasted storage space and improving stock sequencing, with a refreshed parts positioning protocol based on popularity.

New weighing scales have also been installed to ensure improved accuracy and efficiency around size of packaging and shipping costs.

The new facility allows for further headroom, with the capacity to double, in time, the parts stock holding, further improving availability and value for customers.

Tim Frost Commercial Manager said, “We are delighted that the new facility is now live, the movement of tens of thousands of parts and the repositioning of tens of thousands of parts is no small feat. Improved processes and procedures are one thing, but none of this could have been achieved without the skill, knowledge and dedication of the Thwaites parts team.”

Tim continued…” Thwaites distributors and customers can rely on over (xxx) years’ experience within the parts team. A team that is trusted by Thwaites distributors to advise on the best solutions, supply the correct parts and satisfy their customers”.

John Paul Milling Thwaites Parts Supervisor said “When our distributors sell genuine Thwaites parts supplied by the team, we know that part has been designed and manufactured to ensure the continuing reliability and longevity of the dumper it is being fitted to. Giving Thwaites owners and users the assurance that machine downtime will be minimised, whilst being serviced and maximised when the machine the machine goes back to work”.
