The annual competition to find the champion Plant Operator of the Year organised by UK Plant Operators Magazine, took place on Saturday Sept 6th at the CITB, National Construction College. With the 60 best operators, selecting five challenges from the ten on offer. With a cash prize purse of £20,000, the competition attracted huge interest.
Winning a challenge was rewarded with a cash sum of £250 and a slate trophy. The three plant operators who amassed the highest aggregated scores from their five challenges were then set for the grand finale…The ‘Three Lane Thriller’, three operators, three challenges on three separate machines, in three lanes. All to win the first prize of £10,000 with the runner up collecting £5,000 and third £2,500.
The winner and champion plant operator for 2025 was Liam Lambert, Director of Liam Lambert Construction, second was James Covell owner of Kings Lynn Construction, with third place going to Lewis Jarman from Breheny Civil Engineering.
Here are the scores from the top ten finishers in each category. The final time/score is arrived at by deducting points for faults as laid out in the scoring criteria for each task. Each category was judged by CITB and Independent trained instructors.
