B&B Tractors protect over £250,000 worth of agricultural machinery with CESAR Security

Derbyshire agricultural dealer B&B Tractors have helped a farmer to take advantage of a new subsidy scheme to discount the installation of the CESAR security system on farm machinery.

The subsidy scheme has been funded by Bolsover District Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, and Derbyshire Police and offers a 50% discount on CESAR Security systems for agricultural machines and ATV’s.  Discounts are also available on Datatag security systems for trailers and 4×4 vehicles.

B&B Tractors technicians spent the day on the farm in the north east of the county fitting CESAR to multiple tractors, a self-propelled sprayer, combine harvester, and a 4×4 vehicle.  The discount scheme meant that not only were the systems fitted at half price, but the owner also qualified for a 12.5% policy premium discount on his NFU machinery insurance policy.

The farmer was delighted with the offer and the service from B&B Tractors,

“I’ve been meaning to get the system fitted for a while as I was aware of the NFU discount, so when I received the leaflet from B&B about it I gave them a call.  The lads from B&B have been excellent; they fitted the systems really quickly so that I was able to get back out to work.” he explained.

Michael Clarke, Group Technical Manager for B&B Tractors helped with the installation and was very happy with the job,

“The systems are easy to install and provide some really robust security on the machines, making it obvious to any would-be criminals that they are marked and easily identifiable.  I hope that other local farmers take advantage of this excellent offer and get their valuable tractors and ATV’s protected with CESAR” said Michael.

The CESAR Scheme, which is powered by Datatag technology and supported by the CEA & AEA, is a multi-layered system that includes tamper-evident warning and registration plates, RFID transponders, a microdot identification system comprising between 500 and 1,000 microdots which are scattered around the machine, and forensic DNA.

Once fitted, these technologies are almost impossible to remove, and when the machine is registered on a secure CESAR database, these unique details are accessible to the police 24/7, enabling them to identify any machine at the roadside. The CESAR website also has a ‘hot button’ to instantly report stolen machinery.
