When a machine stops, finding a replacement part is only half the story. Knowing exactly what is needed, identifying the right solution and making sure a repaired component performs as it should can make all the difference to getting equipment back to work.

From millions of replacement parts to one of the most advanced hydraulic motor testing facilities of its kind, Plant Parts is bringing a powerful combination of parts availability, technical expertise and specialist repair capabilities to UK Plant Expo 2027, taking place on 11–12 June at the Heart of England Events Centre in Warwickshire.

That’s where Plant Parts comes in. The Suffolk-based, family-owned business has spent 35 years helping plant owners, hirers, operators and repairers keep machinery moving. Now, it is preparing to showcase its extensive parts range and advanced technical capabilities at UK Plant Expo 2027.

Founded in 1991, Plant Parts has grown into one of the UK’s largest independent construction machinery parts stockists, supplying customers in more than 100 countries and supporting over 150 machinery brands, including Caterpillar, Hitachi, JCB, Komatsu, Kubota, Liebherr, LiuGong, Takeuchi, Volvo and Yanmar.

With access to more than two million part numbers, the business offers solutions for a huge range of machines and applications. Its product range includes final drives, swing drives, hydraulic pumps, slew rings, recoil spring assemblies and many other essential components, with OEM, genuine and aftermarket options available to suit different requirements.

But Plant Parts offers much more than parts alone.

Taking hydraulic motor testing to the next level

One of the biggest demonstrations of the company’s technical ambition is The Rig, its purpose-built hydraulic motor testing facility at its Suffolk headquarters. Representing an investment of around £1 million, the facility is an exciting addition to the business’s already well-established and globally respected workshop.

Designed specifically for final drive and swing drive hydraulic motors, The Rig brings a new level of testing capability to the repair process. Its advanced electronic dynamometer can simulate working loads of up to 132 kW, allowing engineers to assess motor performance under demanding conditions that go far beyond checking whether a motor turns.

This matters because a component that appears to work in a workshop may behave very differently under the pressures of real-world operation. By testing repaired motors under controlled, simulated working conditions, Plant Parts can gather detailed performance data and verify results against relevant manufacturer specifications before the component returns to the customer.

The result is a more thorough approach to repairs, giving customers greater confidence and helping to reduce the risk of unexpected issues after refitting.

The Rig reflects Plant Parts’ wider commitment to combining decades of practical experience with investment in advanced technology. Alongside its hydraulic testing capabilities, the company operates a specialist workshop, including a Bonfiglioli Approved Repair Centre, providing repair and reconditioning solutions for components that might otherwise need replacing.

More than parts. A deeper understanding of machinery.

For Plant Parts, technical expertise starts long before a component reaches the workshop. Identifying the correct part can require detailed knowledge of machine specifications, component configurations and manufacturer data, particularly when dealing with obsolete, difficult-to-source or specialist components.

By combining an extensive parts network with technical information, experienced staff and dedicated repair facilities, the company helps customers explore the right options for their machinery, whether that means sourcing a replacement, repairing an existing component or investigating a more specialist solution.

David Finch, Business Development Manager at Plant Parts, commented:

“We want people to know that Plant Parts is about much more than supplying replacement parts. We have an incredibly broad range, but it’s our technical knowledge and the investment we’re making in our service offering that really help set us apart.

“The Rig is a great example of that. We’ve invested in technology that allows us to understand how hydraulic motors perform under load, giving us much more detailed information to work with. Combined with 35 years of parts and repair experience, that puts us in a strong position to help customers find the right solution for their machinery.

“UK Plant Expo is a great opportunity to meet people who already know us, as well as introduce ourselves to those who may not yet realise the range of parts, technical expertise and workshop support we can offer.”
