CAT® has announced the release of three new machines in their compact class range. The new machines are the 301 CR, 302.4 & 302.6 Compact Radius Micro and Mini Excavators.

Targeting contractors and hirers the machines, the company says, offers versatility and performance, combined with simple operation in confined spaces.

The Cat 301 CR delivers advanced machine performance for indoor, demolition, agricultural and landscaping applications through simple, easy-to-use operating systems.

The machine can fit through 30- by 78-in (762- by 1981-mm) doorways while its compact radius design minimises machine overhang to work in tight spaces. Its expandable undercarriage delivers improved stability and increases lift capacity compared to its predecessor, the Cat 300.9D.

“Customers asked for a machine in the one-ton class that is simple and comfortable to operate, while offering stability for lifting heavy weights. Our new 301 CR excavator delivers,” says Zach Waite, commercial director for Caterpillar Industry Solutions. “To enhance stability, the 301 CR is 26% wider than the 300.9D, with a fully expanded undercarriage. We also increased lift capacity by more than 80% from the 300.9D to elevate machine performance and flexibility in the field.”

The Cat® 302, the new Cat 302.4 Compact Radius (CR) and 302.6 mini excavators give customers two additional solutions in the 2.4- and 2.6-ton class sizes.

“We focused on four key areas to help deliver customer value with these units – cost-effective transportability, stability when lifting heavy loads, high ground clearance for working on trails with the fixed undercarriage and an easy to operate, smoother, more efficient hydraulic system”.

The machines are available now in the UK & Ireland from Finning.

301 KEY BENEFITS

• Simplified gauge cluster makes it easier for operators to view key machine information

• Side-mounted joystick controls are engineered to support easy operation

• Expandable blade and undercarriage increase versatility for confined area access when retracted

• Compact radius minimizes machine footprint for working next to fixed structures

• Double the travel speed compared to the 300.9D

• Closed-loop swing system delivers fast cycle times, improved energy efficiency and generates less heat than the

300.9D

• Second auxiliary hydraulics option for operating mechanical work tools

• Standard LED boom work light simplifies excavator use when working at night or inside buildings

• Its tilt-up seat provides easy access to the engine bay and key service points

Also, a foldable Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) allows the machine to travel through height-restricted openings

when folded and provides operator protection when raised and secured for operation.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS

With a maximum operating weight of 2,712 lb (1230 kg) and a folded ROPS height of less than 72 in (1829 mm), the 301

CR offers simple transport:

KEY BENEFITS FROM CURRENT GENERATION CAT 302.7 CR

• Common components with other Next Generation mini excavators

• Tilt-up cab offers access to all components

• Extended service intervals

• Increased uphill swing torque and lifting performance

• Increased travel speed and turning

• Improved hydraulic system

• Fixed undercarriage design

• Consistent layout across Next Generation mini excavator range

• Sealed and pressurized cab option for reduced noise and dust ingress

“Our key product differentiators for the two new units focus on enhancing the customer experience through affordability, productivity, operator experience and serviceability. These units are up to the task of meeting our customers’ toughest challenges.”

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS

The new Cat 302.4 CR and 302.6 mini excavators deliver user-friendly operation and enhanced machine performance for a range of applications.

• The 302.4 CR has a wider, 59-in (1499-mm) track width than the 302 CR and offers a higher lift capacity of 2,160 lb. (980 kg)

• The 302.4 CR has a top-end travel speed of 3 mph (4.8 km/h)

• The 302.6 has a lower, 5,942-lb. (2695-kg) operating weight compared to the 302.7 CR due to its design for use without additional counterweighting, making it towable in most territories.
